Maldives is one of the most popular destinations in the world. Maldives is known for its beautiful beaches, blue water, water sports like snorkelling, scuba diving, sand banks, water villas and the hospitality of the people of Maldives

When it comes to low budget vacations in Maldives, it's the guest houses in the inhabited islands of Maldives where you can live with locals, enjoy local cuisines and more.

As on today all the resorts are closed and no tourists due to Covid 19, but you will soon be able to travel to Maldives for a holiday.

Phase 1 - Allowing Private Jets and Super Yachts - Celebrities and the super rich

Maldives is a very popular destination for celebrities from Hollywood, Bollywood and other super rich people around the world.

During the phase 1 which is planned from the 1st of June, only fully planned visitors would be allowed. They have to travel on their private jets. Landing fees of USD 50K for private jets and USD 10K for Yachts

Phase 2 - Charted Flights

From 1 July tourists can travel on chartered flights only

Phase 3 - Guest houses

From 1st August all the guest houses would be open

Important Conditions for Tourist Visa

  1. Prior booking with Safe Tourism Certified Resort in Maldives

  2. Tourist Visa fees of USD 100

  3. Visa would be granted only if the tourist is committed to stay at at least for 14 days

  4. at leastThe tourists are also required to present a medical certificate not older than seven days for antigen PCR test or 14 days for antibody test which confirms negative Covid-19 test findings.

  5. In addition to this, it is compulsory for tourists to undergo a PCR Test upon arrival which costs USD 100 per test.

Other Procedures - Till the end of September 2020 | The new normals

  1. Social distancing inside the aircraft, speed boats, etc

  2. Luggage will be disinfected

  3. Guests cannot move out until the test results of the sample taken at the Maldives airport are ready and is negative. Still there would be some restrictions like social distancing in common area

  4. If somebody is tested positive, then that person will be isolated, may be others in the same group may be isolated, don't know, could not find in the SOP.

It's not going to be as simple as I have told, but there should be a start and we need to move forward. These process / procedures would have be modified looking into the situations
